I was listening to an old Dead show on the way home from USI the other day. I had recieve some not so good news and was feeling a bit blue. When the song "I Need A Miracle" came on the iPod, I was thinking about how appropriate that song has been throughout my entire life and I see this brilliant sun beam touching the ground. I had to pull over and take a pic and of course that turned into a ton of pics, Can't waste a beautiful sky!! That is the one thing I am thankful about photography, it has made me see the beauty in the most glorious things and even better the most common things we take for granted. I wish everyone could see the beauty all around them, they would treat the world very differently. They wouldn't take life and the people around them for granted, and realize the little things are the things that count. The bird that flies by, the child that smiles, the way someone walks or holds their heads, and the way our pets act when we come home to them. These are the precious things, the common things we see every day and most of the time take for granted. I promised myself at that instant, on the side of the road, that I will try to realize and enjoy all the small miracles that surround me everyday, and enjoy and exhault them for how ever long I have left on this beautiful planet. We should all take time to realize what is really important and keep it in a special place in our hearts, maybe one day I will find the person that cares about things the same way I do and we can share the joy that surrounds us all. For now I will share it with the virtual world and hope I can bring a bit of happiness to others.

Damaged....and Alone...
I was out driving this afternoon when I came past this old tree in a field. For some reason this tree always caught my eye when I passed this field, an old, strong tree standing lonely in a field. Sadly the last ice storm brought down a large chuck of this old titan's left side. I hope the farmer doesn't bring it down and I hope it lives to see a few more years, but I can only hope. I guess we all become brittle and old and become more susceptible to disease and injury the older we get, too bad that along with wisdom (I hope we all acquire some wisdom with age) that we don't grow stronger and faster as well. But as with everything in this 'verse we live in its a trade off, and wisdom comes with a price and thats it....man I am ready for Spring!!! Promise I will get brighter on this blog the closer spring gets.....;-)

Ohio River Bottoms In Bloom

I went down to the Ohio river near Uniontown, Kentucky a couple of days ago and found some interesting things..
The first thing I came by was a collection of geese and ducks summering in the flood waters near the boat ramp. Its fun to watch them cross the road and all of them keeping the little ones in line. The thing that amazed me were the amount of wild flowers in bloom in the Ohio river bottoms right now!! I first came across a Wild Potato Vine....this plant have heart shaped leaves and trumpet shaped blooms that are white with a small amount of purple. This plant is also called bindweed because it can choke out anything around it...small bushes, trees, and ground plants. The wildest thing is the tubers of this plant have been known to get up to thirty pounds and are edible, but bland (I don't know this myself...just looked it up!!). What really surprised me was the amount of black-eyed susans in the open fields..they were everywhere and IMHO very beautiful! But the flower that blew me away was the coneflower or the Echinacea purpurea. Absolutely gorgeous this time of year! While I was photographing this flower I see some blue streaks out the corner of my eye....I look over and I see an indigo bunting hanging out in the tall grass...A beautiful site!! This is what makes this area so special...all the natural beauty..
